Two UEC Faculty Members Selected as Horizon Europe National Contact Points

University of East Capital (UEC) proudly celebrates the selection of two of its distinguished faculty members as National Contact Points (NCPs) for Horizon Europe, reflecting the University’s growing engagement with international research, innovation, and global scientific collaboration.

Dr. Nourhan Fawzy Wasfy has been selected as an NCP for the Joint Research Centre (JRC), while Dr. Ashraf Abbas Deraz has been selected as an NCP for Cluster 3 – Civil Security for Society.

Horizon Europe National Contact Points provide expert guidance, practical information, and tailored assistance related to participation in the European Union’s research and innovation framework programme within their designated disciplines.

Responsible for providing scientific coordination, guidance, and strategic consultation for researchers and academic entities seeking collaborative ties with the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, fostering cross-border research excellence and knowledge transfer.

National Contact Point

Dr. Ashraf Abbas Deraz

Focus: Cluster 3 – Civil Security for Society

Serving as the national advisor for initiatives within Horizon Europe's Cluster 3, guiding Egyptian research teams in developing consortiums and project proposals addressing civil security, disaster-resilient societies, and the protection of critical infrastructures.

Horizon Europe & The National Contact Point Network

Horizon Europe is the European Union’s flagship funding programme for research and innovation with a total budget of €95.5 billion. It addresses global challenges such as climate change, digital transition, healthcare, and sustainable development while boosting the EU’s competitiveness and growth.

National Contact Points form the main support structure for participants, offering specialized advice on administrative, legal, and financial matters, helping applicants identify relevant funding calls, find international consortium partners, and submit competitive proposals.
